Promoting Menstrual Hygiene in Slums :
Pads For Pride
Rotary Club Roopnagar Copilots conducted a menstrual hygiene awareness camp in three slum areas on 14 Feb 2026 educating 100+ ladies about menstruation, breaking taboos, and distributing sanitary pads. The ladies were guided on proper use, benefits, and disposal methods, emphasizing hygiene practices. They were advised to dispose of wrapped pads in designated bins or pits to prevent environmental contamination. The importance of not flushing pads down toilets to avoid clogging pipes was also stressed. A menstrual health ambassador Mamta was appointed in slum areas to ensure continued support and guidance, promoting sustainability and community ownership. The initiative aimed to empower women, promote health, and break menstrual stigma. Copilots Vandana Sharma, Avni Wahi, Sangeeta Sood, and Kiran Walia were present at the event
